Power your home with energy from the sun
Sustainable, clean energy
We install Solar Panels, to power your home & everyday life
Powering homes sustainably in Surrey, including Woking, Guildford, Aldershot, Ascot, Bracknell, Wimbledon and other towns throughout the Surrey Hills.
At Orchid Energy, we believe that nature holds the smartest solutions – few things prove that better than solar power. Just like the Orchid, which thrives by drawing life from light, solar panels capture the sun’s energy and turn it into clean usable energy for your home. Use what nature gives us to power your everyday life. Installing solar panels is not just about saving money on your bills – it’s about becoming more self-sufficient, reducing your carbon footprint and investing in a more sustainable, brighter future for us and future generations.
"Like the orchid, our systems are built to thrive. They’re beautiful in design, intelligent in function and will perform perfectly in tune with your lifestyle. "
The benefits of installing solar panels on your home
Save money
Slash your costs by generating your own clean power with solar panels; say goodbye to skyrocketing energy bills and reduce or eliminate your reliance on the grid. You'll save around 70% on your annual energy bills.
Power your home with sunshine
Turn free sunlight into clean reliable electricity — reduce your bills and your carbon footprint to help combat climate change. Create a better future for our generations to come.
Store it don’t waste it
With smart battery storage, you keep your extra solar energy for when you need it most — like evenings, peak demand periods or during power cuts. Reduce your reliance on the grid.
Energy Independence
Enjoy peace of mind and be less dependent on the grid. You are less vulnerable to energy price fluctuations and power outages. Perfect for those that work from home.
Boost your property value
Homes with solar panels are more energy-efficient and attractive to buyers. They often sell for a higher price — It’s an upgrade that pays you back.
Tax Incentives and Rebates
The government has frozen all V.A.T on solar and battery installations until 2027. They also offer grants to homes and businesses that meet specific criteria.
How do Solar Panels work?
1
Sunlight Absorption
Solar panels, typically installed on your roof or in your garden, absorb sunlight through the day. A south facing roof is the most optimal roof for solar panels.
2
Electron Excitation
When sunlight hits a solar panel, tiny particles of light energise electrons inside the solar cells. The electrons move and create a flow of eletricity that generates usable power for your home.
3
Electricity Generation
The electric current produced by the solar cells is converted into usable electricity, which can be consumed immediately in your home or stored in a battery system.
4
Grid Connection
If your solar panels generate more electricity than you need, the excess can be fed back into the grid, often earning you credits or compensation from your utility company through net metering.

Frequently asked questions
The first step will be to arrange a survey of your property. Following the survey, we will provide documentation that details all the factors required to obtain a formal and accurate quotation. If you approve the quotation we provide, based on your requirements we will schedule installation at your convenience.
No. Most installers require a survey and charge for this service. All our surveys are free of charge. If you instruct us to carry out your survey, you are under no obligation to ask us to install the solar PV panels. This means you can use the survey to get quotations from other installers, too.
The survey is quite comprehensive and includes the following:
- Roof orientation
- Rafter dimensions and spacing
- Check if there is anything in the immediate environment which would impede performance
- Geographical location
- Location for safety equipment to be installed
- Height of the roof
- Specific access for equipment that may be required to install your solar PV panels.
It all depends on the orientation of the roof. The best roof to install solar panels is South Facing, the worst is north facing. East and West facing are fine, but it does cut down the production of energy. Best is facing South. If you have a North facing roof only, a solar panel installation will not work well. It can be sued though to supplement your South facing roof.
This is one of the many benefits of having solar panels installed. You can set up a Smart Energy Guarantee (SEG) directly with your supplier. This agreement will allow you to start seeing a Return on your Investment (ROI) with the energy you export. The amount of ROI is dependent on several factors such as time of day you export (at certain times of the day energy will peak thus increasing your yield, more so in some geographical locations).
Yes, this is required to store the energy created from your Solar PV Panels. There are many options in the marketplace, which is something your consultant will be happy to discuss with you to ensure full compatibility with both your solar PV panels and your EV charger.
We operate across Surrey (including towns such as Guildford, Woking, Camberley, Godalming, Weybridge and Leatherhead), Berkshire (including towns such as Reading, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Newbury, Ascot, Windsor and Wokingham), Hampshire (places such as Winchester, Farnborough, Basingstoke, Fleet and Petersfield) and towns such as Epsom, Sutton and Wimbledon in South-West London. We cover typically a 50-mile radius. If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, just get in touch.
Throughout the South East, homeowners are actively investing in solar as energy costs rise and renewable incentives become more accessible. We can travel beyond this, please contact us to get a quote.
